(in)visibility
who or what is allowed to be seen and who or what isn’t? what gets selected for the image and what happens at its edges or outside the frame? who are the wretched of the screen? what attempts are made to clean images? labour, especially, is still more often than not concealed – today’s so-called “front office activities” tend to be literally that: a front. invisibility is especially problematic for domestic workers, whose presence behind the facades often goes unseen and is therefore undervalued, underappreciated, not really taken into account. we have to descend into the hidden abode of reproduction, too.
