mobility
movement, in the many diverse and sometimes downright opposing forms. you may commute four hours a day to and from work, but that does not necessarily mean you don’t have an extremely sedentary, static and rigid lifestyle. being employed in the transportation industry does not mean that your job is going to “take you places”. there is physical movement and there is social or economic mobility, and usually it requires quite a bit of the latter to obtain some degree of freedom in the former (as in the difference between travel and migration or between the expat and the migrant worker). yet another situation is that of those physically restricted in mobility, who will experience the social normalization of able-bodiedness throughout all domains of life.
